Freedom of the Press is a right of all free people. The extension of that right to electronic media has been established with the revolution in the Internet. No longer is that right granted only to print media.
Our press card / press pass gives credibility to its holder and on many occasi-ons opens doors to bigger things.
The ifnm Press Card is a voluntary scheme for issuing press / media credentials to professional or freelance journalists. The scheme comprises international and national organizations which represent journalists and other media personnel whose work involves gathering material for editorial publication in all media (news papers, tv, radio, www, online radio, internet tv, bloggers, online journals, photographer and any other media) .
Journalists, photographers, bloggers, part or full-time journalists and freelance news gatherers working for the international, national, regional, local or online press can apply for a Press Pass through ifnm.
How can I become an ifnm Membership and Press Card?
We have endeavored to make this process as simple and secure as possible.

How much does an ifnm Membership incl. Press Card cost?
ifnm charges various types of membership fees: a nonrecurring admission fee (one time fee USD 65.00 ) and yearly membership fee ( USD 58 ). One-time fee USD 65 | February - December 2012 | USD 53.17 - Total US$ 118.17 (93.00 EUR) Shipping and handling fees included.
The yearly ifnm membership fee will be calculated proportionately for the current year. If a membership commences in February, only the months from February to December will be charged.
What forms of payments are accepted?
We only accept payments thru PayPal, Google Checkout and online by credit or debit card through PayPal and Google Checkout. We currently accept payments in two currencies (USD and EUR).
Currency note: Our prices are quoted in USD. All EUR prices will therefore be converted from USD to EUR at current money market exchange rates.
Your ifnm press documents will be dispatched within 7 – 15 business days from the receipt of your application form, ID photo and payment.
Please note: Over the Festive Season and New Year, there can be delays with the delivery service. Thank you very much for your understanding.
You must be over 18 years of age to apply for a ifnm press card.
The Press Cards, without exception, will be sent to the address as stated in your application form.

ifnm issued Press Cards are valid for up to a year (current year), after which they must (can, no any obligation for you) be renewed.
If you wish to prolong your membership for another year you will be required to pay the membership fee for the following year.
Renewal only for existing ifnm Press Card members (holders).
Only if you were issued with an ifnm Press Pass / Press ID.
If you wish to receive your new ifnm press card at the end of November, the annual membership fee of U$D 58 for the forthcoming year, for existing ifnm press card members will have to be paid by 15th November of the current year. In addition, each year at the end of November we will send ifnm members a new press card valid for the following year. Members will be annually notified by email in October and November.

In most countries the press is not state controlled. Please note: Press cards are therefore issued by trade associations, trade unions or press agencies.

It is essential that people who act as journalists are prepared to face daily challenges.
One can consider the press business as a kind of contact management, which can be used for the creation and cultivation of good relationships. This is one of the many reasons why newcomers to the world of the press & media, love their work so much.
However in spite of all the merits, one important thing should not be overlooked: you should simply enjoy your press work. Having this motivation is a fundamental requirement in order to be able to provide excellent work to the highest standards. A press card may well make your life easier, but to be successful in your career, other rules are more important.
